A rare Mid-century (1950's) satellite in orbit diamond brooch featuring three diamond stars in motion. Set in 18ct white gold. The three main diamonds are old european cuts with a total weight of .91ct , J-K colour, SI2 to I1 clarity. Thirty six diamonds surround the centre 3 stones (35 single cuts, 1 Swiss cut) totalling .29ct, H-J colour, SI clarity. The brooch measures 35 x 33mm. The launch of the Sputnik satellite in 1957 inspired bombè style jewellery designs such as this one reflecting people's fascination with all things Space Age. A stunning three dimensional brooch.
